The Bruner Avenue Children's Facility is a prototype of a new dwelling type funded by the New York State Office of Mental Health and operated by a not-for-profit social service agency, The Jewish Board for Children and Family Services. Eight children aged 14-17 years will receive 24-hour acute care for mental and emotional special needs in a family-like setting. The design exposes the interlock of public and private spaces through the use of different exterior materials.
