Hither Lane House, a modest, circa-1978 Colonial style home, was charming and nicely designed, but not very accommodating to the changes of modern life. The existing structure - a two-story main house and single-story extension with eat-in kitchen - felt conventional and suburban, with a clear division between “house” and “yard.” ABA designed a new guest room and study along with extensive landscaping, highlighting more generous circulation inside the home as well as a fluid relationship between interior and exterior.
